Lifecycle of Core Consumables: Replacement Cycle and Cost Analysis of Hot Zone Components in Graphitization Furnaces
Glance over:- Release date:Mar 18, 2026【Big In Small

I. Factors Affecting Lifespan: Why 50-200 Cycles?

The lifespan of hot zone components (primarily graphite heating elements and graphite insulation felt) is strongly correlated with the customer's process conditions, mainly reflected in:

  • Maximum Operating Temperature: The higher the temperature, the faster the material sublimation and consumption. This is the primary factor affecting lifespan.

  • Atmosphere Purity: Trace amounts of oxygen or moisture in the protective gas accelerate the oxidation and consumption of graphite.

  • Process Cycle: The more severe the heating and cooling rates, the greater the thermal stress; the longer the holding time, the greater the cumulative loss.

  • Material Volatility: When processing certain materials that volatilize at high temperatures, their vapors can erode graphite components.

Therefore, a furnace processing volatile materials at 2800°C may have a hot zone lifespan approaching the lower limit of 50 cycles; whereas a furnace processing stable materials at 2400°C with a pure atmosphere may achieve a lifespan of 200 cycles or longer.

II. Lifespan Comparison and Cost Explanation of Components

  • Graphite Heating Elements/Insulation Felt: These are normal consumables requiring periodic replacement. Their cost is already included in the product's production cost.

  • Induction Coil: This is generally not considered a consumable. As long as the cooling water system operates normally (uninterrupted water supply, good water quality without scaling), the coil itself essentially requires no replacement under normal use, with a design lifespan synchronized with the main equipment.

III. Our Service and Commitment

In the proposal provided before contract signing, we will offer a more precise lifespan estimate for hot zone components and an annual consumption cost analysis list based on your specific process parameters, enabling you to clearly calculate production costs.
